blackbuttoneyes.net

I've always wanted to have my own domain to call my own. I started off about a year ago under the domain "unspokenfor.net," but I never did start that off well, half-heartedly finishing layouts but never completing them. In January, that domain expired, and I had neither the funds nor need to renew that. However, this past July, I stumbled across a discount for webhosting that was too good to pass -- and it didn't hurt that I was at a point in my life when a domain might do some good. Nonetheless, that didn't mean the domain immediately went into use ...

Two months passed before I sat down and said, "Hey. You purchased this to make use of it, so let's do it." It didn't hurt that I was also working on a major professional query that would list this domain, but, either way, I sat down, designed, and wrestled with the coding -- and hopefully, this domain will grow and flourish unlike my unfortunate previous domain.

I am in no way a professional designer, and I have a lot to learn as far as graphic design and HTML/CSS-coding are concerned. Please understand as this is all a stil relatively new learning process, and, in the same thread, I'm always open to constructive criticism, tips, and advice. Web coding is a rather difficult area for me, but I have improved since unspokenfor.net (oh, dear, did I have issues then ...) and am always, constantly seeking to grow and improve.

Why the name?

Coming up with the domain name was admittedly the hardest part as I didn't want something too trite or too elborate to be credible. So, after many botched attempts at domain names (there are so many domains out there!), I finally thought upon "black button eyes."

"Why?" Because eyes fascinate me.

"But why black button eyes? What are those anyway?" Black button eyes, as I know them, are eyes that are so dark that the pupils seem to be nonexistent. A little freaky, yes, but isn't that where their appeal lies? There's something beautifully mysterious and macabre in them, and at least one character in every one of my stories features them.

The name also, admittedly, originates from one of my "fandoms:" one of the most striking features about Jae are his eyes. Granted, the "black button eyes"-ness of his eyes might be because of circle lens (which he should stop wearing! >O), but, either way, when he's not obviously wearing circle lens, his eyes appear to be so black that they seem to be all pupil -- but not so that he appears lifelike.

But, anyway, that's that ...

Date of Origin?

Because I tend to be obsessive over dates such as these ...
